حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَأَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الأَحْمَرُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم تَابِعُوا بَيْنَ الْحَجِّ وَالْعُمْرَةِ فَإِنَّهُمَا يَنْفِيَانِ الْفَقْرَ وَالذُّنُوبَ كَمَا يَنْفِى الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ وَالذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ وَلَيْسَ لِلْحَجَّةِ الْمَبْرُورَةِ ثَوَابٌ إِلاَّ الْجَنَّةُ. قَالَ وَفِى الْبَابِ عَنْ عُمَرَ وَعَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ وَأَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُبْشِىٍّ وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَجَابِرٍ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ.
The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: "Keep doing pilgrimage (1) and umrah (2) alternately, for indeed, they eliminate poverty and sins, just as a bellows eliminates the dross from iron, gold and silver. The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, performed pilgrimage (1) thrice: twice before the hijrah (2) and once - together with an ‘umrah (3) - after it. He herded sixty-three camels, and ‘Alī [Ibn-Abī-Ṭālib] came from Yemen with the rest [of the hundred] (4). Among them was a camel for Abū-Jahl having a silver ring in its nose. The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, slaughtered them and ordered that a piece of meat be taken from each camel. Those pieces were cooked, and he drank from their broth. Ibn-‘Abbas related that the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, performed ‘umrah (1) four times: 1-The ‘umrah of Ḥudaybiyah (2). 2-The 'umrah of compensation in Thūl-Qi‘dah of the following year. 3- The 'umrah from al-Ji‘irrānah. 4- The fourth 'umrah was performed together with his pilgrimage (3).
